With the impending national roll out of the new NBN fiber optic communication system the existing Telstra “copper” connection for all phones will be disconnected.

The NBN authority and Telstra have arranged for the phone lines / numbers used for Emergency Lift Phone and Fire Panel to be quarantined from disconnection.

ALL BUILDING MANAGERS / Lift Owners need to arrange for their emergency phone numbers to be registered with the NBN authority to activate the quarantine process this needs to be completed now, the following link to the NBN web site provides further details..

The Fire and Lift Register is an important government initiative that NBN is assisting with, to help support the safe migration of emergency lift phones from certain existing fixed line networks.

At some future date when the NBN conversion takes place in the building location an alternative form of emergency phone / communication system will need to be implemented which our members can assist with. By registering your lift emergency phone number it will guarantee that the copper phone line is not disconnected until Telstra is advised the replacement service is operational.
